Pimlico is making a stand and calling on the Government to back the apprentices of the future. We have put together an innovative apprentice scheme that supports UK businesses in employing and training apprentices and we have started a petition to campaign for the Government to support it. Below are details of our scheme.
Our 3 YEAR PLAN is to reduce youth unemployment by turning Jobseekers Allowance into a Job Achievers Incentive, i.e the Government pays the employer the Job Achievers Incentive to use as part of a minimum wage salary for an apprentice.
YEAR 1: Government pays employer the Job Achievers Incentive to use as part of a minimum wage salary for an apprentice + employer pays travel expenses.
YEAR 2: Government pays employer the Job Achievers Incentive with an annual increase to meet minimum wage to use as part of a salary for an apprentice + employer pays travel expenses.
YEAR 3: Government pays employer the Job Achievers Incentive with an annual increase to meet minimum wage to use as part of a salary for an apprentice + employer pays travel expenses.
If you'd like to give your backing to the scheme, then please add your details to our E-petition:

"Dear Pimlico plumbers,
I have already passed my city and guilds level 2 plumbing course, but i never had the oppertunity to go out and work as a plumber whilst doing the course.
Im a keen learner, and wish to have the oppertunity to help your business to grow, and for me to be taken on as a trainee.
Kind Regards
Phil

"I have myself just completed my 6129 city and guilds level 2 in plumbing, but have struggled to gain employment as there seems to be nobody taking apprentices on, so I can not move along in my training and develop my skills and gain the experience needed to work as a full time plumber. I am currently working in a warehouse and am so frustrated with doing this job as I know all it will take is for someone to take me on and then I will be well on my way to a fullfilling career. I am now 26 and unfortunately this seems to be to old for a lot of potential employers, I also applied for a post with british gas but they wanted £15,000 for training costs of me, and with nobody willing to help me with this I had no chance of raising this as i currently do not earn this anually. I hope this petition will raise awareness and make the government stand up and take notice of how many people need this opportunity, as it will surely help youngsters and adults stay of jobseekers and find a rewarding career."

"My son as also been looking for work and as spent 2 years at southwark college attending Electricial Engineering Course but would have been far better of if he had gone straight into a apprenticeship with hands on experience, his now looking for training contract or an apprenticeship to gain some hands on experience."

"My grandson is really keen to do a plumbing appreticeship. He is sixteen and finishes school at the end of this summer. He has heard of the Pimlico Apprenticeship scheme and definitely wants to apply. I think your proposals make such good sense and I really do hope you get the government backing you need."
