After years of scoring expensive own goals RBS is on the verge of a hat trick after boss Stephen Hester was forced to decline his £963,000 bonus, followed by former leader, Sir Fred Goodwin, becoming just plain Fred again. Of course stripping him of his honour doesn't get our £45 billion back, but perhaps now we can concentrate on clawing back this pin striped crook's £342,000 a year pension. I'll tell you what, this would definitely make it a historic week at RBS! It might take more than 130,000 years to get back the 45 billion quid it cost us to bail the bank out from under the effects of Fred's disastrous gambles (not accounting for inflation), but at least he'd be making a token gesture towards making restitution to society for his sins!
